Board composition and bank performance in a small island developing state: The case of Curacao

Based on agency theory, this paper contributes to the literature by assessing effects of Supervisory Board size, gender diversity, and multiple directorship performance within banking industry small island developing state: Curacao. The research made use data drawn from annual reports locally generated banks its subsidiaries. Results linear regressions indicate a positive relationship between bank performance, negative association outcomes both diversity board size. According these results, it is concluded that legislation corporate governance for credit institutions in Curacao should incorporate maximum number members board, as well promote interlocking directorates quotas gender.
